The objective of the WACMIC which was established in 2013 was to spearhead the integration of capital markets in the region. The Council adopted a three-phased approach to capital market integration; namely: Sponsored Access (Phase 1), Qualified West African Broker (QWAB) (Phase 2) and Fully Integrated West African Securities Market (WASM) (Phase 3).
